Wanda began her career with Tourism BC in 1982, working in the Minister's office first in Kamloops and then in the Parliament Buildings. Wanda joined the (then) ministry staff in Victoria in November of 1985. One of her first projects was the development and implementation of a highway signing program that would address the issues of visitors as well as those of the industry - now known as the Service & Attraction Sign Program. The relationship with the Ministry of Transportation expanded to include areas such as 'Welcome to' signs at border crossings into BC, regional and area promotion signs, the Community Entrance Sign program, all relevant to the tourism industry.
For several years, Wanda was part of a 2-person team that delivered the Community Tourism Action Program to many communities throughout the province, assisting them to maximize tourism potential through intensive planning workshops.
For many years Wanda was also responsible for the administration of the Tourism Workplace Employment Training Program which was the precursor to the current day employment assistance programs such as 'Destinations'.
For 14 years Wanda managed the Tourism British Columbia Accommodation Services Unit which was responsible for the inspection programs and production of the annual British Columbia Approved Accommodation Guide and other aspects related to the accommodation sector of the industry. Wanda was integral in getting both the Access Canada Program and the Canada Select/Camping Select Programs established in BC. She also supported the Kid Friendly and Pets Can Stay Programs by publishing the program logos for the participating accommodation properties.
Currently Wanda manages the Tourism Product Services unit which is responsible for the new on-line registration process for accommodation product suppliers.
