Travel Tips
Pet Etiquette
Please be considerate when travelling with your pet. As
ambassadors for pet-toting travellers across the continent, and to
ensure that you and your pet remain welcome guests at your chosen
destinations, it is important to follow proper “Petiquette”.
Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:
Be aware of, and comply with, local regulations and bylaws.
Always keep your pet under control and on a leash while in public
areas. If your pet becomes agitated or disruptive, leave the area so
they will not disturb other guests. It is important to note that
although most people take kindly to pets some guests may be fearful
of a barking dog while others simply find it an annoyance.
Do not take pets into areas that are not designated as pet-friendly.
In consideration of your host, do not allow the pet to sit on
chairs, beds or bedspreads.
Wipe any dirty or wet pet paws before entering the establishment.
All certified Pets Can Stay accommodation providers are equipped
with disposable wet wipes for such an occasion.
Leave your accommodation in the condition you found it. Do not cause
unnecessary cleaning and/or repair work for staff because of you or
your pet.
Respect any restrictions and policies of the accommodation provider.
If you wish to take a day trip or visit sites that do not welcome
pets, please speak with your Pets Can Stay certified accommodation
provider to arrange for booking your pet into a local
pet day care. If you plan to leave your pet unattended in the room
for a short period of time, it is generally best to place your pet
in a familiar pet
carrier while you are away. Always place a “ Pet in Room” or "Do Not
Disturb" sign on the door and notify
the front desk. Leave a number where you can be reached in case your
pet should become noisy.
NOTE: Many establishments do not allow guests to leave pets
unattended in rooms. Be sure to inquire with your Pets Can Stay
certified accommodation provider as to their specific policies.
Keep a close watch on your pet at all times when it is exercising in
an off-leash area. There are non-pet owners who share these areas as
well, and who may be allergic or even fearful if they are not
accustomed to animals. Keep things fun and safe for everyone.
Be respectful of public property and clean up after your pet at all
times. Some Pets Can Stay certified accommodation providers will
supply waste disposal bags for their guest to take with them. |
